I absolutely love carving with redbud. The trees fall over all the time, and the core-wood is a natural yellow gold color. I’ve never carved with dogwood. We have those trees, but my mother loves them so cutting one down is out of the question. I’ve never seen one fall over or die naturally. Ever work with sugar maple or yellow/river birch. Dogwood used to be called Dagwood, dag as in dagger, they were used to make shanks for stabbing people a long long time ago, also arrows. Alexander the Great’s army was armed with dogwood shafted spears. Huh, that’s awesome. Didn’t know that. Unfortunately, maple and birch aren’t common around here, and I like to only carve with Nice Some Moms Are Classy Bougie And Ratchet It’s Me I’m Some Moms Shirt self harvested wood. That’s crazy about the spears, but it makes sense given how straight the dogwood grows. I wonder if they would make for good bows like ash trees too. You just say the word Damascus to me and I’ll upvote. Like I don’t even care. Damascus knife? Upvote. Damascus computer case? Upvote. Damascus water? Upvote. Wow, zoomed out I thought you just didn’t know what Damascus was cause all I saw was some lines on the blade. Then I zoomed in and my god that’s an amazing pattern. I love the contrast of the larger diagonal lines and then the zones of high layer grain. Amazing work. OK, I’m from Southeastern Alaska and lemme tell ya, no source of huckle- or blueberries I’ve encountered have ever been taller than about 4′, nor Nice Some Moms Are Classy Bougie And Ratchet It’s Me I’m Some Moms Shirt have they gotten any thicker than about half-inch. This is intriguing.
