One other musical I want to give a shout out to that may interest some pop heads is Waitress. Sara Bareilles did the music for it and actually recorded an album of her singing some of the songs herself. But frankly, I really think there are lots of musicals out there in so many different genres that there’s one for everybody. So they demand “real” actors and try to tighten things into more conventional cinematic narratives which isn’t necessarily bad, but nobody has figured out how to do it yet. The peak of this was Les Miserables, where they made everyone sing live and sound “real” when the story just doesn’t function like that. Although I don’t particularly like The Greatest Showman I think that they got the formula pretty nicely. They hired musical theatre composers Official Snoopy I Like That Old Time Rock N Roll That Kind Of Music Just Soothes The Soul Vintage Shirt, cast talent that could sing, and then they dubbed the people that couldn’t. It was a movie that knew what it wasn’t and didn’t compromise on that for “realism.”

I just wanted to say thanks for writing this out and telling your story. As a woman, the incel community TERRIFIES me. Oh, it’s a whole fucking awful rabbit whole. There’s this whole subculture of people trying to basically rebrand and normalize pedophilia, using terms like MAP, saying they’re part of the LGBT crowd, that it’s just another type of sensuality and they’ve got their own version of a rainbow flag thing and junk.
